HEARNE – Journey to the Northern Ocean
Written and Directed by Virginia Barter. This dramatic short film (9 min) is an exciting portrayal of the French attack on Fort Prince of Wales (Churchill) and the capture of the young English explorer, Samuel Hearne in 1782.
Winner of the Trebas International Student Film Awards 2010, for Best Picture; Best Sound Design; Best Music; and Best Actor Stephen Cullen as Samuel Hearne.
Showcased at the Lucerne International Film Festival in Switzerland, 2011.

DARE TO BE DEEP – ECO story
“Dare to Be Deep”- produced by Virginia Barter in support of CPAWS (Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society). This short video (12 min.) tells a story of ocean conservation and the establishment of Gwaii Haanas - Canada’s first marine conservation area. The film features traditional Haida dancers and underscores the successful role of First Nations in partnering with governments to protect the environment and traditional lands.
